Bird Walk
Saturday, May 10 at 8:30 a.m.
The Swaner EcoCenter invites you to join Bill Fenimore, local birding expert and author, for a bird-filled morning stroll on Swaner. Bill is the owner of the Layton Wild Bird Center and has just been selected to receive the prestigious Ludlow Griscom Award from the American Birding Association. We will also celebrate the release of Bill's new Backyard Birds guidebook series with a book signing following the walk

Wildflower and Weed Walk
Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m.
Regional expert Dave Gardener will be identifying native flora and invasive weeds and discussing the impacts of grazing on plant communities. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the natural environment and enjoy this healthy landscape.
Walk will be held during the 4th annual Swaner Nature Festival. Please meet at the information booth. |

Frog Walk
Thursday, July 10 and 6:00 p.m.
Recently, 5,000 Columbia spotted frog tadpoles were released at Swaner. Find out where they are now as wildlife biologist Chris Crockett discusses their historical distributions, threats to survival, and reintroduction efforts. Following the talk, take an evening tour of the habitat the frogs call home.

Green Building Talk
Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m.
Did you know the Swaner EcoCenter is the greenest building in Utah? Look for our booth at the Park Silly Sunday Market on historic Main Street. Denim insulation, bamboo flooring, sunflower seed composite countertops... find out what makes this sustainable building so unique.
Swaner will be the featured Sustainable Issue Group at the market that day. |

JUST FOR KIDS
Art Challenge
The Swaner EcoCenter invites all students to participate in the Swaner Nature Festival Art Challenge. The 2008 themes are "Swaner Wildlife" and "You and Nature". Art art will be displayed and winners announced at the Nature Festival on June 21. Prizes will be awarded for each grade level. Entries must be delivered to the Swaner EcoCenter offices by 5pm on Friday, May 30. For more information about rules and themes please view our Art Challenge PDF or call Savannah at 435.649.1767. |
