Swaner Education Programs Swaner EcoCenter is an excellent place to experience and learn about land stewardship and local wildlife. It is an ideal outdoor classroom and caters to students of all sorts, including youth, adults, formal and informal groups, and school clubs.
Swaner Nature Festival

4th Grade Field Trips
Spring field trips for 4th graders take place in May and are ~2 hrs in the morning or afternoon. Students rotate through 3 stations: Meet Wallin Farm and Swaner EcoCenter (with a short into to Wetland Functions), What Lives in a Pond? (Macroinvertebrate study), Beaver Dress-up and other Animal Adaptations to Wetlands. Following the stations, students will explore the preserve and look for one of the most charismatic wetland creatures, chorus frogs. |
5th Grade Field Trips
Winter field trips for 5th graders are scheduled for January 14-25, 2008 and are generally 2 hours in the morning or afternoon. Students will track animals, dig snow pits, and learn animal adaptations to winter.

Swaner EcoCenter hosts field trips for students from Summit County, Park City, and Salt Lake City on a by-request basis. Private schools, home schools, and non-school affiliated groups may also request field trips, and will be provided pending review, schedule permitting.

Nature Walks
Every Wednesday, year-round, Swaner EcoCenter staff host a one-hour nature walk on the preserve. Discussion items include native wildlife, local history, and our projects and goals for the preserve.
