The Swaner EcoCenter, a progressive non-profit with a long history of natural resource protection and community service, is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee our new building- a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art LEED Platinum-certified environmental education facility. This position is full-time and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Job Description:
- This position holds primary responsibility for ensuring that all facility systems operate efficiently, reliably, safely, and legally.
- Responsibilities for this position will fall into several categories including:
- leadership and communication,
- facility function,
- operations and maintenance,
- quality assessment,
- technology integration,
- compliance to state and federal requirements.
- Duties will require integration of the principles of facility administration, information technology, engineering, exhibit maintenance, contract labor negotiation and supervision, and behavioral science.
- The Facility Manager must:
- Supervise the EcoCenter’s mechanical systems, photovoltaic electrical systems, rainwater-recycling systems, and multimedia exhibits.
- Ensure that all facility systems comply with government regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation, analysis, and review of contracts related to the maintenance of mechanical systems, groundskeeping, and custodial services.
- Manage contract labor and support staff.
Education:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in facility management, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management, or related field.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in a related field is required.
- 2 years of managerial experience is preferred.
- Experience or technical training with standard mechanical systems, photovoltaic electrical systems, and/or multimedia exhibits is preferred.
Certifications:
- Certification as an FMP, FCM, CM, or similar professional certification is preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Must establish effective working relationships with a wide variety of peers including EcoCenter staff and volunteers, vendors, contract labor, government agencies, and the public.
- Must be able to coordinate several activities at once, quickly analyze and resolve specific problems, and cope with deadlines.
- Should be analytical, detail-oriented, decisive, flexible, have good leadership and communications skills, and provide “on-call” attention to EcoCenter systems as needed.
